PSC SPORTSKWELA PROGRAM

International Certificate/Diploma in Sports Management Course

ABOUT

The Philippine Sports Commission, in its effort to strengthen human resources in sports and sports development in the country, is offering its Sports Education and Training Program.

In partnership with the United States Sports Academy (USSA), the PSC will initially offer courses enabling participants to earn an International Certificate in Sports Management.

This is a six-week course to be conducted by distinguished faculty and experts from the USSA. Graduates of this program will receive an international certificate from the USSA, which is acknowledged as America’s Sports University and recognized around the world.

Classes will be held Mondays to Fridays at the Philippine Sports Institute (PSI) in Philsports Complex, Pasig City, Philippines.

Target Beneficiaries

The International Certificate/Diploma in Sports Management course will initially be offered to:
  1. Philippine Sports Commission personnel;
  2. Department of Education regional office sports directors and coordinators;
  3. Sports Directors of Philippine state universities and colleges (SUCs); and
  4. Sports Development Officers of local government units

Certificate and Diploma Courses

The course will be offered in a ladder-type approach where the first six (6) subjects or 18 units are offered as a Certificate program, after which the student may proceed to the Diploma program by taking additional four (4) subjects or 12 units and a mentorship course good for 200 hours with a written report to be submitted by the student.

Admission Requirements

  • a. Filipino citizens aged not more than 45 years old

  • b. Bachelor’s degree; preferably in the field of Physical Education, Sports and/or Management
  • c. Minimum of two (2) years working experience in the fields of sports and/or physical education as director, administrator, or project manager
  • d. Certified true copy of Transcript of Records (original copy to be presented during panel interview)
  • e. Certification from school/organization as director/administrator/manager
  • f. 300-word essay on how the International Certificate in Sports Management course will contribute to one’s professional development and enhance the situation of sports in the Philippines
  • g. Accomplished Personal Data Sheet (CSC Form 212, revised in 2017)
  • h. Two (2) 2”x2” ID pictures with white background
  • i. Personal appearance during panel interview
  • j. Three (3) recommendation/reference letters from former or current employers and professors

Admission Policies

  • a. A maximum of fifty (50) students per batch will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
  • b. All application forms and supporting documents shall be sent via courier only to:

  • c. Applications submitted via postal mail, email or hand-carried documents shall not be accepted.
  • d. The following procedures for admission into the course shall be undertaken by the Admissions and Selection Committee: examination of applications and credentials, panel interview, and final deliberations.

  • e. Applicants shortlisted for panel interviews shall be notified via email.
  • f. Accepted applicants shall be informed via email and post via courier.
  • g. No reservation fees shall be collected. Accepted applicants, however, shall submit formal confirmation of attendance in the course.
  • h. Students are required to attend the orientation on the Saturday before their first day of classes at Philsports, Pasig City.

 

Tuition and Expenses

  • a. No application and tuition fees shall be collected.
  • b. Students shall shoulder their transportation, meals, school supplies, and photocopying expenses during their attendance in the course.
  • c. Students are required to bring their own laptop computers during the course.
